Today while a Hannibal Officer was at Wal-Mart, 3650 Stardust, taking a report for trespassing Wal-Mart personnel advised there was possibly an armed subject in the store. Officers assigned as the School Resource Officers (SROs) heard the radio traffic, realized the close proximity of a potential threat near the schools, and placed the Hannibal High School and Hannibal Middle School on lockout as a precautionary measure. The lockout lasted approximately two minutes and was lifted once it was determined there was no longer a threat in the area of the schools.
The individual in question was located and interviewed by officers. Based on the interviews of everyone involved it was determined the facts did not did not substantiate the initial claim.
