On Friday, March 1, 2024 the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County issued a warrant for Avianna T. Dorsey, 26 of Mexico Missouri, charging her with Trafficking Drugs, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. The warrant stems from a traffic stop that occurred on Thursday, February 29th. Hannibal Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on US 61 Northbound near James Road for a lane violation. Dorsey, one of the occupants, exited the vehicle with a blanket and infant child in her arms. Dorsey attempted to walk away from the vehicle and was stopped by officers. She had an illegal substance in her purse which was believed to be methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Dorsey tried to conceal additional items from officers under the blanket while giving her infant to someone else. Officers were able to control Dorsey and recover a bag with a large amount of a substance believed to be Methamphetamine inside. The Children’s Division was contacted and the infant was allowed to go with other family members. Dorsey was taken to the Marion County Jail. Hannibal Police were assisted by Bowling Green K-9 unit. Dorsey’s bond was set at $100,000.00 cash only and she remains in the Marion County Jail.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
