On Sunday, September 10th the Circuit Court of Marion County charged Robert E. Hinton, 56 of Hannibal, with Driving While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Saturday at approximately 8:19pm. A Hannibal Officer on patrol saw a male lying on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Broadway with serious injury to one of his legs. Several witnesses advised the injured male was riding a motorcycle east on Broadway and was stuck by a pickup truck that was being driven by Hinton. After striking the motorcycle Hinton left the scene. Officers located Hinton still driving the truck in the area of Broadway and Summit. Hinton was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Marion County Jail. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment. Hinton’s bond was set at $25,000.00 cash only and he remains in the Marion County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
