On Monday, July 31st, at approximately 7:59 a.m. Officers with the Hannibal Police Department were notified a fully marked Quincy Police Department SUV had been stolen from the parking lot of Quincy Police Department. The QPD SUV was spotted in Palmyra by the Palmyra Police Department and initiated a pursuit. Hannibal Officers set up on Highway 168 and picked up the pursuit once inside the city limits. The pursuit continued for approximately fourteen minutes throughout the city and ended in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Munger Lane. The driver, Marcus L. McGruder, 46 of Hannibal, surrendered as he exited the QPD SUV. He was taken to the Marion County Jail.

The 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charged McGruder with  Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Stealing, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting Arrest by Fleeing. His bond is set at $100,000.00 cash.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
