On Saturday January 28th, 2023 warrants were issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging the following subjects:
- Braden Chestnutt (19) Assault 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree
- Chad Elliott (20) Assault 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree, Tampering with a Victim
- Damien McCulley (25) Assault 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree, Tampering with a Victim
- Dakota Laster (23) Assault 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree
All subjects are being held with no bond in the Marion County Jail. The charges are a result of an ongoing investigation into the death of a Hannibal man on January 25th. Detectives continued their investigation, served search warrants, re-interviewed witnesses, and suspects leading to the arrests. This is still an active investigation, more information may be released as it is deemed appropriate.

On Thursday a warrant was issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Howard J. Rickey (41) of Hannibal with Assault 1st Degree and Resisting Arrest for a Felony. The charges are result of an ongoing investigation into the death of a Hannibal man on Wednesday night. Early Thursday morning Detectives went to a residence on Darr Street as part of their investigation. Upon arrival Detectives observed Rickey as he attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to apprehend Rickey and take him into custody without further incident. Rickey is being held in the Marion County Jail with no bond. This is an active investigation and more information may be released as it is deemed appropriate.

Officers Respond to Unresponsive Male
On Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 at 10:00pm NECOMM dispatched Officers to the 1200 block of Lyon Street for an unresponsive male subject laying in the roadway. Officers arrived on scene and initiated CPR until medical personnel arrived. The male was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives are currently investigating this matter and more information will be released as it is deemed appropriate.
