On Wednesday morning Officers of the Hannibal Police Department were called to the 3500 block of Warren Barrett in regards to a burglary. According to the victim, a male subject had entered the business and removed a large amount of copper wire and tubing. Officers reviewed the security video and recognized the suspect as being 48 year old Steven W. Watkins of Hannibal. Officers also discovered the suspect had used a stolen vehicle which had been recovered earlier Wednesday morning, in the 2500 block of Market St. Officers located Watkins at his residence in the 2500 block of Hope St and arrested him without incident. Officers recovered the stolen metal inside Watkins residence. Watkins was released to the Marion County Jail on a 24 hour hold pending a warrant.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
