Officers of the Hannibal Police Department were called to Wal-Mart at 3650 Stardust, Tuesday afternoon, for a report of a subject leaving the store without paying for some items. As employees attempted to stop the subject, he reached into his clothing and made statements as to having a gun. Officers arrived on scene and located the subject, 42 year old Michael D. Walters of Columbia Mo, coming out of a wooded area, a short distance from the business. Walters was taken into custody without incident. No weapon was discovered on Walters or in the area he was seen. Walters was charged with Robbery Second Degree and placed on a 24 hour hold in the Marion County Jail pending warrants.
