On June 21, 2020, a criminal arrest warrant was issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Justin DeWitt 21 currently homeless with one count of a Class D felony of Assault- 2nd degree, one count of unlawful use of weapon, one count of armed criminal action.. This warrant was as a result of a call the police responded to at approximately 3:3pam Saturday of a Disturbance in the 700 block of Walnut Street. According to officers reports; through investigation they discovered that a 58 year old Hannibal woman reported that she had been assaulted by Dewitt while he was a passenger in her vehicle. During the assault the female received physical injuries that required medical attention but were non- life threatening. At the time of the alleged assault Dewitt was located and taken into custody. . He was arrested and placed on a 24 hour hold in the Marion County Jail for the assault. His bond was set at 10,000.00 cash or surety and he remains in the Marion County Jail.
