On Sunday, January 26, 2025, the 10th Judicial District Court of Marion County issued a warrant for Caleb S Nelson, 20 of Hannibal, charging him with three counts of, Stealing, and Fraudulent use of a credit device. The charges are the result of an investigation that began on Friday, January 24th 2025 in which multiple Hannibal citizens reported items had been taken from their unlocked vehicles during the early morning hours. On January 25, 2025 officers learned one of the stolen credit devices had been used at a local business and identified the suspect as Caleb Nelson. Nelson was located and taken into custody without incident. Multiple stolen items were recovered in the residence where Nelson was arrested and the stolen property was returned to the owners. Nelson remains in the Marion county Jail with bond set at $15,000 cash or surety. Additional charges may follow. The Hannibal Police Department continues to encourage all subjects to make sure their vehicles are locked to deter these types of thefts.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
