Suspect in Custody Following Series of Property Damage Incidents in Downtown Hannibal
*****ORIGINAL*****
At approximately 7:27 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, officers with the Hannibal Police Department took a male suspect into custody following a series of property damage incidents in the downtown area. The investigation began earlier that morning at 6:01 a.m. when officers responded to a report of property damage at the Marion County Courthouse. While canvassing the area, officers identified and documented eight additional incidents of property damage along the Broadway corridor. The suspect was transported to the Marion County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending further investigation.
Residents and business owners in the downtown and Broadway area east of Grand Avenue are encouraged to inspect their properties and report any damage to the Hannibal Police Department.
Additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
