On Monday, August 26th, the 10th Judicial District Court of Marion County issued a warrant for Olivia A. Malone, 18 of New London, charging her with Assault First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Armed Criminal Action. The charges stem from an incident that began on Sunday at approximately 11:19pm. The Hannibal Police Department responded to the 400 block of Edwards for a report of an assault involving a knife. Neither the suspect or the victim was still on scene as the victim had been transported to an area hospital by personal vehicle. Officers located witnesses who stated a verbal argument ensued between Malone and the victim when Malone stabbed the victim. Ralls County Sheriff Deputies located Malone and took her into custody without incident. Malone was released to detectives with the Hannibal Police Department. After questioning she was taken to the Marion County Jail where she remains in custody. Malone’s bond is set at $100,000.00 cash only. The victim was flown to another hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
