On Saturday night, December 17th, an officer of the Hannibal Police Department stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Broadway for failing to stop at a stop sign. When the officer approached the vehicle he smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana and saw, what he believed to be, marijuana in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle consented to a search of his person and a large amount of what is believed to be cocaine was located. A small amount of what is believed to be marijuana was located inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, 27 year old Terry T. Williams, of St. Louis was arrested for Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Fail to stop at a Stop Sign. Williams was released to the Marion County Jail on a 24 hour hold.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
