On August 31, 2026, the Hannibal Police Department responded to a report of a fight in progress on Paris Gravel Road near U.S. Highway 61 and determined the incident to be a domestic assault in which a juvenile struck his father with a tire iron before briefly barricading himself, resulting in a short standoff that officers resolved safely. The juvenile was transported to Hannibal Regional for a mental health evaluation, and no additional injuries were reported. The Hannibal Police Department encourages residents to seek support during family crises and reminds the community that local resources are available to assist those in need.
The Hannibal Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ralls County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
