HPD Faces Hairy Situation Once Again
The Hannibal Police Department for the third year in a row will participate in a fundraiser for the fight against cancer. Several officers and civilian employees with the Hannibal Police Department started growing beards starting on November 1st. The growing of beards which is typically prohibited by department policy except for those assigned to the Anti-crime Enforcement Squad or other specialized investigations will be allowed for a limited period of time. Female employees can also participate and will be given a pink metal ribbon pin by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 20 to attach to their clothing while working. The goal is to draw awareness to both men’s and women’s health and particularly cancer. HPD employees are donating $30.00 each for the opportunity to grow a beard or wear the pink ribbon pin during the month of November. Funds raised for this privilege will be donated to the James E. Cary Cancer Center in Hannibal.
