HPD Drug Take Back Program Has Positives Results in 1^st Month

During the first month of the Hannibal Police Department (HPD) Drug Take Back Program nearly 40 pounds of prescription and over the counter medications were brought into HPD.  The Drug Take Back Program was started on April 1^st.  “We are pleased to offer this service year-round to the community.  HPD has been involved with other drug take back events in the past but they were always short-lived only offering a few select dates to drop off the unwanted drugs” stated Chief Davis.  “The Drug Take Back Program provides multiple benefits for the community which includes the disposal of the drugs which helps prevent drug abuse plus unwanted drugs are often flushed down the toilet that can lead to environmental toxins being released into the water and soil”.
