Hannibal Police Conducting Homicide Investigation
Update 1
On Monday, October 13th, 2025 a warrant was issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Gabriel Anthony Juarez (27), formerly of Kansas, with Murder 1st Degree, Domestic Assault 1st Degree, and Armed Criminal Action. Bond was set at $500,000 cash only. Juarez remains hospitalized, but in police custody at an undisclosed hospital. This remains an active investigation and further information may be released if deemed appropriate.

The Hannibal Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred in the 300 block of North 6th Street. On Monday, October 13, 2025 officers were dispatched to a residence to conduct a welfare check on a female subject who had not arrived for work. During the course of the investigation, Officers discovered a 22 year old female deceased inside the residence. A male resident, believed to be aware of law enforcement’s presence, sustained self-inflicted injuries. The male subject was in serious condition and was flown to an appropriate medical facility where he remains in police custody. This appears to be an isolated incident between two individuals known to each other. There is no ongoing threat to the community. This is an ongoing investigation. Additional details may be released as they become available and appropriate to share.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
