Hannibal Police Receives Early Christmas Present
On Tuesday (December 20th) the Hannibal Police Department (HPD) received a check for $20,000 to support efforts by the department to combat illegal drug trafficking in the community and related offenses. The funds were made available by a married couple formerly of Hannibal. The couple had contacted HPD about three months ago expressing their interest to offer financial support to help the department’s crime fighting efforts especially regarding illegal drug sales. In October the couple met with the Chief and members of the command staff to discuss what the funds would be used for if provided by the couple. It was decided that the funds would be invested in additional surveillance equipment for the department’s use. Now that the funds have been made available the surveillance equipment will be ordered after the first of the year once price quotes have been obtained. The couple requested their identity remain anonymous. “We are very appreciative of their generous gift to help support our efforts here at HPD” stated Chief Lyndell Davis.
