At 03:03 Tuesday morning, officers of the Hannibal Police Department were called to the Hannibal Regional Hospital for a report of a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, the victim, a 17 year old Hannibal man, reported he had been in an argument with Seth E Emerson (19 of Hannibal), when the victims dog became aggressive with Emerson. Emerson retrieved a handgun in an attempt to scare the dog. While confronting the dog , the gun fired, hitting both the animal and the victims leg. Officers recovered the weapon at the scene in the 3100 block of Rendlen Ave. Emerson later turned himself in at the Hannibal Police Department. He was arrested for Domestic Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Animal Abuse and Armed Criminal Action. Emmerson was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail.  The victim was treated for the gunshot would and released. The wounded dog was taken to a local vet to be treated.
