On Tuesday December 16th, a warrant was issued by the Circuit Court of Marion County charging Adam M. Hayes with the Class “A” Felony of Assault 1st Degree and the Class “A” Felony of Armed Criminal Action. Hayes bond was set at $100,000.00 cash only. Hayes remains in the Marion County Jail.
At approximately 9:22 p.m. Monday night, officers of the Hannibal Police Department Special Response Team arrested 25 year old Adam M Hayes, of Hannibal, on charges of Assault 1st Degree in connection with an incident which occurred earlier in the day. At 12:20 Monday afternoon, Hannibal officers were called to Swartz Manor in the 100 block of N 10th, where they discovered a 55 year old victim had been assaulted with a hatchet style hand tool. Due to the severity of the victims’ injuries, he was flown to the University of Columbia Hospital. Hayes was arrested without incident at his residence in the 900 block of Center St and placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail, pending issuance of a warrant. This matter is still under investigation and more information will be released when appropriate.
