A warrant was issued July 15th by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court, charging Roy J. Gillum with Assault 1st Degree, a Class “A” Felony and Armed Criminal Action. Gillum’s bond was set at $100,000.00 cash only. Gillum remains in the Marion County Jail.

At 08:22 a.m. Wednesday, July 15th, officers of the Hannibal Police Depart were called to a report of a stabbing in the 2600 block of Chestnut. When officers arrived on scene they discovered the 28 year old female victim in the back yard of a residence with multiple stab wounds to her upper body. The victim identified her assailant as Roy J. Gillum, 33, of Hannibal and stated he fled the area on foot. A short time later, officers located Gillum at a residence in the 2400 block of Broadway where he was arrested without incident. Gillum was charged with Domestic Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action. He was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail pending warrants. The victim was flown to the University Hospital in Columbia Mo.
