Hannibal Man Arrested after Explosive Device Investigation

On Sunday, August 14th, a warrant was issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Joshua E. Rickey (33) with three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The charges were a result of a Hannibal Police Investigation into the manufacture, and possession of explosive devices at a local residence. On Saturday, Hannibal Police Officers and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) went to a residence in the 800 block of Hayward Street to serve search warrant. When officers arrived at the residence no one would answer the door, however Officers could see a subject inside. The house was surrounded and a negotiator was eventually able to make contact with Rickey by phone. Approximately an hour later Rickey surrendered to law enforcement without incident. A search of the residence yielded several explosive devices which were removed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad. The residence was also checked by an ATF certified bomb dog along with detectives and bomb squad members. A search at another location on Orchard Avenue located an additional

device which was also secured by the bomb squad. Rickey remains in custody at the Marion County Jail and his bond was set at $50,000.00 cash only. The Hannibal Police Department wants to thank our partner agencies for their help with ensuring officers, and the public was safe during the removal of the devices.

The Hannibal Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Hannibal Fire Department, Marion County Ambulance, and NECOMM.
