On July 4^th, continuing until after 03:30 a.m. on July 5^th, officers of the Hannibal Police Department responded to several calls and complaints of fireworks. Despite efforts by both the police and fire departments to curb the discharge of fireworks within the city limits, a total of 18 citations were issued during this period. Discharging of fireworks is expected to continue over the next few days, until peoples supplies have been used up. The Hannibal Police Department will continue to issue citations and encourage people not to discharge fireworks within the city limits.
