The Hannibal Police Department would like to remind everyone the importance of licensing their dogs. All dogs within the city limits, over the age of 6 months, must be licensed. Applications for a license may be made at the City Collectors office. The yearly license fees are $5.00 for each dog if spayed or neutered and $10.00 for each dog if not spayed or neutered. As of November 14th, the Hannibal Police Departments Animal Control Officers have issued 196 citations for No Dog License. Licensing dogs helps to ensure vaccinations are up to date and helps in locating their owners if the animals are found to be at large. Licenses must be affixed to a collar or harness at all times the dog is not kept in a private building.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
