The Hannibal Police Department has received several reports of altered US currency in the Hannibal Area. Hannibal Officers have been called to three reports since Monday morning of counterfeit money being passed. According to officers reports it appears that smaller denominations of US currency are being altered or reprinted with a higher denomination on the face. The bills have been passed at an area retail clothing store, a convenience store and a local bank. The recovered currency has been in denominations of one hundred dollar bills, but other denominations could be passed as well.
