On Wednesday afternoon Hannibal (HPD) officers executed a search warrant at a hotel room located at the Mark Twain Motor Inn 3603 McMasters Avenue for an investigation into counterfeit U.S currency.  HPD detectives recovered a significant amount of counterfeit U.S. currency ranging from small denominations up to hundred dollar bills.  In addition computer equipment and supplies commonly used in counterfeiting were seized as evidence. Three subjects were taken into custody and identified as : 

            Jeffery W. McBride, 24 of Hannibal

            Samuel W. McBride, 19 of Hull

            Ashley D. Crane, 25 of Palmyra

Both Jeffery and Samuel McBride were transported to the Marion Sheriff Department where they are being held on a 24-hour hold pending issuance of arrest warrants.  Crane was released from police custody after questioning.  The search warrant was as a result of a investigation by Hannibal Police detectives and cooperation of the public.  HPD detectives contacted and met with agents from the St. Louis office of the U.S. Secret Service on Thursday due to U.S. currency being involved.
