On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:43pm officers were called to the area of US 61 at Washita for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Officers conducted an investigation concerning the accident and according to reports it appears that a 1997 Ford F350 operated by a 31 year old male from St. Charles Missouri was southbound on US 61 when a 14 year old female from Hannibal was walking across the roadway when she stepped into the path of the truck. According to witnesses the driver of the truck swerved in an attempt to avoid the accident, but the female was struck with the mirror and the front tire. The female pedestrian was transported from the scene by Marion County Ambulance for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. No citations were issued as a result of the accident.
