At 4:57 a.m. Friday morning Officers of the Hannibal Police Department saw fireworks being discharged from the 500 block of S. Main and made contact with two adults and two juveniles. While speaking to the detained subjects, a building began to smoke and caught fire. Officers entered the building to ensure no one else was inside and recovered a large amount of fireworks. Officers then had the Hannibal Fire Department respond to the scene. Officers took all four subjects into custody and transported them to the police department. A short time later Officers were contacted by the HFD, who reported another subject, who had been hiding in Bear Creek, had returned to the scene. Officers responded and took him into custody. The two juveniles were charged with Curfew Violation and Discharging Fireworks Inside the City. Both were released to their parents. Two of the adults, 20 year old Eugene R. Melton and 18 year old Dalton R. Culp, both of Hannibal, were issued citations for Discharging Fireworks inside the City and released. The third adult, 19 year old Christopher L. Zeiger, of Hannibal, was placed on a 24 hour hold for Arson Second Degree and released to the Marion County Jail.
