On Friday, April 6, 2012 at 0902 the Hannibal Police Department responded to the intersection of Highway 61 and Warren Barret Drive for a report of a semi tractor rollover accident with unknown injuries. Upon Officer’s arrival it was found that a 2007 Western Star semi tractor trailer driven by David Brooks, 52 YOA of Canton, Missouri was northbound on Highway 61. As he approached the intersection of Warrant Barret and Highway 61 a pick-up truck stopped at the electrical signal in front of Brooks. Pipkins vehicle was struck on the left front driver’s side by coal debris, the Tahoe was behind the van. The trailer had to be towed from the scene along with the van due to damages, no injuries were reported. Brooks was cited for following too close reference accident. The Hannibal Police Department was assisted by Missouri State Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Hannibal Fire Department, Marion County Ambulance. The Hannibal Street Department assisted in clean up of the spilt load of coal which covered both westbound lanes, Warrant Barret Drive was closed for approximately two hours.
