The 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County issued a warrant for John M.R. Kurth charging him with Second Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action. Kurth’s bond was set at $1,000,000.00 cash only. Kurth remains in the Marion County Jail.

A 24-year-old New London man was taken into custody for questioning shortly after the shooting was reported. The man was processed and taken to the Marion County Jail pending formal charges. The 46-year-old victim of Hannibal died at the scene. Further information will be released at a later time.

Broadway Shooting Investigation
On Wednesday, October 6th 2021 at approximately 6:10pm Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Broadway for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located a 46-year-old male subject who had been shot. Officers located the suspect a couple of blocks away within minutes of the shooting. The male suspect was taken into custody without incident. At this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. More information may be released as it deemed is appropriate.
