During the month of August a total of 26 arrest warrants were issued related to illegal drug activities within the city limits of Hannibal. The issuance of the warrants were the result of a several month investigation by Hannibal Police detectives assigned to narcotic investigations with the drugs involved ranging from heroin, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and marijuana. The majority of those arrested were for charges of distribution or delivery of a controlled substance. “Large scale arrests such as these would not be possible without the cooperation of the county prosecutors” stated Chief Davis. “Both Marion County and Ralls County Prosecuting offices worked well with HPD detectives to insure the investigations and issuance of the warrants went smoothly. Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton’s office saw the bulk of the activity with 24 of the warrants being handled by him and his staff”.
