While on regular patrol at approximately 12:45am this morning an officer with the Hannibal Police Department noticed a white male standing on a building in the 1200 Block of Broadway. The officer approached the male who quickly got down from the building and began to flee from the officer. A short time later the suspect was taken into custody during the arrest the male subject assaulted two officers by allegedly spitting on one and kicking the other. The male subject is identified as Corey L. Roth 22, of Hannibal he was arrested for Trespassing (misdemeanor) Two counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Misdemeanor,) Resisting Arrest (Felony) and Roth had a Marion County arrest warrant for Robbery 2nd Degree (Felony.) Roth was transported to the Marion County Jail where he is held on a 24 hour hold for the new charges as well as a 50,000.00 bond from the existing warrant. The officer sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
