On Wednesday, February 5th, the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charged Jason E. Stamper, 37 of Palmyra, with Receiving Stolen Property. The charges stem from an investigation that began on Sunday, February 2nd. Officers responded to a business in the 2900 block of Palmyra Rd for a report of stealing. The victim stated their car had been broken into and items were missing. Officers were able to view surveillance video from area locations and identified Stamper as the suspect. On Tuesday, February 4th, officers believed Stamper was inside a residence in the 400 block of Smith St. They were given consent to search the residence by the homeowner and Stamper was taken into custody without incident. Items that belonged to the victim were recovered from the home. Stamper remains in the Marion County Jail; his bond is $10,000.00 surety.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
