Amnesty Month

(Effective June 1 thru June 30, 2011)

The Hannibal Police Department in conjunction with the Hannibal Municipal Court is offering a onetime amnesty period for people who have city fail to appear warrants. These people have had city charges in the past and failed to appear for court as ordered. A warrant was subsequently issued for their arrest for failing to appear. Most fail to appear warrants carry additional $125 cash only fine attached to each charge.

For the month of June all persons with fail to appear warrants will be able to have that portion on the charge dismissed as long as they;

Turn themselves in to The Hannibal Police Department and pay in full the original amount due.Pay by mail, full amount of original charge included, post dated no later than June 30, 2011Have a 3rd party come in to the station to pay the full amount due.

All amounts paid must be cash or money order. No personal checks. No bondsman.

People wishing to find out if they have a warrant can go to www.hannibalpd.com and click on the icon marked “Amnesty Month.” The fine amount listed already has the fail to appear portion removed. To avoid possibly having to wait to be served persons are encouraged to come in Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm, but can come in any time during the month of June. Offenders may still request a court hearing if desired but that has to be done in person by the offender him/herself on the day the fine is paid.

All fail to appear warrants are for the jurisdiction of the City of Hannibal only. No state or other jurisdiction warrants are included in this amnesty offer.

This is a onetime offer and not expected to be repeated.
