Hannibal officers arrested the 14th suspect identified as Schalan J. Mattox, 21 of Hannibal this morning for his part in a on-going illegal drug investigation by Hannibal police detectives. Officers observed Mattox as a passenger in a vehicle traveling on West Ely and a traffic stop of the vehicle was initiated. Mattox along with two other passengers identified as David A. Mayfield, 20 of Hannibal and Brittany C. Chamberlain, 19 of Palmyra were taken into custody as well. Mattox was arrested on a warrant (Marion County) for distribution of marijuana with bond set at $100,000 cash or bond. Mayfield was found by officers to be in possession of what was believed to be heroin and drug paraphernalia and was placed on a 24-hour hold. Chamberlain was arrested on a warrant (Marion County) for possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana. All three suspects were released to the custody of the Marion County Sheriff Department. Hannibal officers continue to search for the 15th suspect wanted as part of several months of work by detectives into illegal drug activities within the community.
