On Monday August, 8 2016 at 9:23 p.m. officers of the Hannibal Police Department were called to the 400 block of N Main St for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived they were unable to locate anyone involved. After conducting an investigation, officers’ located witnesses who gave accounts of what happened and description of the parties involved. Witnesses described seeing what appeared to be two males involved in an argument. After hearing shots, the witnesses stated one male ran off and the other male got into a vehicle with a female and left the area. The officers conducted a canvass of the area and obtained a possible vehicle description and location the male and female who had driven off.  The officers located two subjects at a local camp ground. Upon questioning, the two reported an unknown male had approached them in the alley, pointed a pistol at them and demanded their money. The male victim stated he retrieved a concealed pistol and fired a shot in the air. The suspect then fled on foot while the victim fired a second shot into the air.  After a short search of the original area, officers located the suspect, Kurt D McSpadden (54 from Indiana) hiding behind trees on Bridge St. Officers also located a spray painted BB gun. McSpadden admitted to attempting to rob the couple and that he was in route to Colorado from Indiana. McSpadden also admitted to stealing a vehicle in Indiana after recently being released from prison there. The vehicle was recovered in the 200 block of N 3rd.  McSpadden was arrested for Armed Robbery, Armed Criminal Action, Tampering 1st Degree and Interfering with arrest. He was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail pending warrants.
