Hannibal Animal Control Officer’s investigate animal abuse/ cruelty case.   According to reports a Hannibal Police Officer on regular patrol on Thursday at 12:24pm observed a deceased cat in the 900 Block of Mark Twain Avenue.  Animal control responded to the area and found the cat had recently become deceased and found that it had a large fish hook attached to a cord in its mouth.  The cat also appeared to have been shot in the front shoulder area.  The City of Hannibal takes cases such as these very seriously. Animal control is seeking information from the public in regard to anyone that has information regarding the incident.  Anyone in Hannibal who has a domesticated animal and can no longer care for it can contact Animal Control as we have a no cost surrender program.
