At approximately 21:05 p.m. Sunday night, Officers of the Hannibal Police Department stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Broadway for a traffic violation. During a consensual search of the vehicle, Officers located drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of what is believed to be synthetic marijuana. The driver, 19 year old Nathaniel P. Wood and the passenger, 18 year old Ashlyn B. Dietle, both of Hannibal, were arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both Wood and Dietle were released on summons.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
